Merry Christmas (CRUSHMAS) Stephen Harper ~ A Sincere Wish From a Concerned Canadian

~ MERRY CRUSHMAS ~
I Searched High and Low for the Perfect Holiday Card for Our "Dear Leader"
It finally occurred to me that he might like something a little more personal and from the heart,
so I weighed my very intense feelings for him and came up with this.
It really manages to encapsulate my sentiments exactly.

Twas the Night Before Crushmas and all over my Wall
I'm thinking up ways to help "Dear Leader" Fall.
He Pisses me off in more ways than one,
And pulling his strings is always great Fun.

So I'll do what I do and I'll do it with Joy.
Before it's all over He'll be my new toy.
I'll not be so careful as good kids would be,
I'll take him and shake him and break him with Glee.

So please come and join me as I get my kicks.
Cause that's how I deal with odd ignorant pricks
Who think they're above us in so many ways.
We'll heel them and cow them and number their days.

We'll gather our voices  we'll do it no doubt.
Together we'll raise such a clatter and shout
"Be gone you old Weirdos ~ Be gone you old Fools
Your Party is Over ~ Now We make the Rules!"

And when the old Bugger finally fades out of sight
We'll know that we've done it and won the good fight!

To all a great Crushmas ~ To all a Good Night!

Paying For Canadian Bacon ~ Senator Mike Duffy Takes Us For a Ride

Disdain For Duffy is Nothing New
This is outrageous.

The Taxpayers of Canada are being taken for a ride on the Harper Land Express and are being forced to pay the Conservative Party of Canada for the cost of 'Hiring' Senator Mike Duffy to go about the country and promote their candidates in the 2011 Federal Election campaign. And this just a couple of months after the Harper Conservatives copped a plea to avoid having four of their own charged with tampering with the funding in the 2006 election. They Plead guilty to Election fraud to get their minions off  paid an insultingly small fine and now we are being forced to pay one of their most vocal and distasteful minions to dupe us into giving them a majority government? That does ^NOT sound right.

I must have misread it.

An excerpt:

Party spokesman Fred DeLorey said Duffy was not paid any fees to attend events and said no Senate resources were used. "During the campaign, Senator Duffy was very helpful and went where he was asked to go, by both national and local campaigns," DeLorey said in an email.

Among Duffy's whistle-stops was a trip to Yellowknife to support Conservative candidate Sandy Lee in the riding of Western Arctic. That event proved controversial as a local radio station claimed it had been refused an interview unless it submitted a written list of questions in advance.
The Lee campaign paid Duffy $209 under the category of "miscellaneous expenses or non-candidate travel."
She lost out in the May 2 vote to incumbent New Democrat Dennis Bevington."

Read More:

No, it appears that I read it correctly. So who exactly is this Mike Duffy Character? Check out this video of  a drunken Mike Duffy, "off to the RCMP BALL and in a foul mood.

Isn't he charming when he is drunk?

Perhaps the most telling video that I have seen is this little bit of footage of Mike back when he was still looking for that Senate seat that he now fills to overflow. Watch as Elizabeth May makes ground pork out of the then Mr. Duffy.

So, as you can see, we are once again having to pay our own government to misinform us.

I give you Mr. Duffy telling us all to gather around as he is about to destroy Stephane Dion with the dubious help of Steve Murphy of CTV Halifax. Watch as he gloats and puffs himself up knowing that his long sought Senate seat was finally a sure thing. We are all still paying for this obnoxious Stunt. I refuse to show the Dion Assassination, but here is Duffy actually salivating over his part in it. Note that it is clearly labelled as being only 5 Days TO ELECTION

Finally: This is the kind of sycophant that Duffy has always been. He was never a journalist, just a shill. Watch now to see what it is that we will actually be asked to pay for. Here he shills as a deranged Conservative avatar and in the process, making big bucks to spread a message that he knows is not true. He does not seem to remember Paul Martin, but credits the Harper Government with saving us from the Banks. What a maroon!

I recently had the pleasure of meeting Senator Jim Munson and he told me that when he and Mike Duffy were both employed at CTV he once heard Mike say that he would be willing to back PM Chretien as long as he would eventually become a Senator. He was willing to do anything then and he is willing to do anything now, so I now know that it was not an exaggeration.

If Only the Canadian MSM could actually speak. <> Milewski Schools Harper

In a Blog the Other Day, (three blogs down) I mentioned that Stephen Harper's crew did not think much of Terry Milewski's Report on  "Tough on Crime" Agenda being abandoned by Texas. They said in the House on several occasions that it was Mis-information. Would it Not be nice if Milewski fought back?  IT might have gone something like this!

 Harperlanders Beware
These videos MUST be seen to be believed. Sadly, we do ^NOT have such a Rat Trap as the one shown to the Right.     >>======>

The beasts we need to catch are much bigger than these local rodents. Oh, don't get me wrong, they are as complicit as any other government in this story, but it goes way higher than mere governments. And even worse, there is nothing in this story or any other about the New World Order that offers any concrete solutions.

I must add also that I am not generally know as a conspiracy theorist, and for that reason, it is nice to see so much real evidence in this reality-checking video.  It is interesting to note  that Wikipedia not only has a section on this Bigger Story it also has )conspired, lol, to label it at least,  by adding (Conspiracy theory) after the term 'New World Order'. Lol!

This really is, in spite of any preconceptions an important video, IMO, as it shyou may have, ows a more local part of the puzzle and focus's mainly on North America and should be alarming to all Canadians who are not fast asleep, confident that the Government of Harperland can be trusted to defend our interests. I have no such faith.

It's nice to know that we have such a Strong Stable Government is it ^NOT?  Would you still think so if your Water was on Fire? This is also important and says a lot about our Government's inability to remember that we are living beings.

Living in Harperland with Ezra Levant ~ NeoCons Defunding Democracy

Ezra Levant thinks or at least says that since James Moore, CPC MP and Harperland Minister in charge over at the Harperland Heritage Department sponsors what he considers to be really bad punk bands, that the CBC should therefore be defunded? A very round-about and subliminal message from a man who claims to defend Free speech, don'tcha think?

But of course, being Ezra, a Rovian and a somewhat stressed-out Straussian at heart, he (pretends?) to assail Harper and bad punk music and turns it all, oddly enough, into a twisted plea to shut down our public broadcaster.

It brilliantly weaves into the mix, the doubtful role of cultural funding in Harperland the presumption of his being an expert in things musical, gets in a lick or two at a government that he is known to support, (for balance?) and attacks the only public media in the country. A CBC which needs, in my opinion a lot less Government meddling.  The media IMO needs to be separate from both religion and state. We need the Canadian Broadcasting Company to be more independent and under much less mean spirited Right winged political pressure.

The Harper government has a four year 40% mandate, but the CBC has in the mind of Canadians, a much longer 65% mandate. It really is our last line of defence. It needs to be there and be independent and unintimidated when the Next Election, or even the next Harper vs. Harperland or vise versa court case comes up. And they will come up. But will they come up before he softens the judiciary? Let's hope.

Harper has been implicated in some very serious stuff, at some point the courts are bound to somehow deny a final appeal eventually. A lot of Canadians are not aware of just how much of Harper's future is now in the hands of the courts. We need independent media, and free social media so that those of us who get this stuff, are able to share it. I say share it freely.

He makes no mention of the role of such fine institutions as the SUN though. Besides it is an entirely private enterprise which just happens to have a new competing (AS IF) news service of it's own. It is a bargain at half the price and generally well worth the ?? 25 cents ?? that a hard-copy is going for on weekdays here in Harperland.
" Stephen Harper says he needs to find $4 billion to cut to meet his campaign platform.
Where should he start? Transfers to hospitals and schools? Equipment for our soldiers in danger?
No. He should privatize the CBC and let Living With Lions busk for a living.
It’s not even a question of taste or art. It’s about whether something that calls itself a Conservative government can continue to fund a state broadcaster and have bigoted punk bands on the public dime."
I really wanted to comment there but the defender of Free speech himself writes a SUN blog that does ^NOT allow comments. It is sad really! Come on SUN open it up!

I await a reply. If you are an Ezra fan let him and the editors over there know that we are waiting over here.

Love the logic Ezra. Living with lions sucks (that much is true enough but just for kicks let me add that they received a Whopping one one hundred thousandth of the cost of the G20) so let's Scrap the CBC. And the way you worked the word 'bigoted' in there was awesome. You are such a pro.

At least you got the part about the band being bad right.  But that is ^NOT your call. Nor is it mine.

A Tale of Two Tales: Jim Flaherty Rewarded by Media!

<><><><><><><><><><><><><>
Tale One: Jim Flaherty has just been named Business news-maker of the year by ...... Canadians in General happy to have his leadership? Well not exactly, But that did not stop the MSM from picking up this ready made story and distributing it verbatim. The Main Stream Media has a lot to learn and a lot to answer for. The early story was thoroughly short on reason. It simply quoted those who for one reason or another did not see anything wrong with Flaherty's dismal stewardship of our economy.

"OTTAWA - As the sovereign debt crisis rocked Europe and the U.S. economy spun its wheels with a jobless recovery, Finance Minister Jim Flaherty remained the steady hand at the tiller in 2010 on his way to being voted The Canadian Press business news-maker of the year.
They started out with verbatim accounts from a news service, but by now they are adding info and more background on it. Of course many, many Canadians read these things as soon as they come out, and at that point they are virtually identical and and simply a copy of the glowing PMO press release. Most of them never check back to see how public opinion and some time to digest it sways the discourse over the course of a day or two. Here is some of the information that was added later in the news cycle, and keep in mind that the readership decline quite rapidly after a story breaks, and that most who have read it will not re-read it!

With the loonie near parity with the U.S. dollar and signs of the economy recovery taking hold, Flaherty could boast of a record better than most of his peers around the world in 2010.

"I think what we saw not only in Canada, but around the globe was a very aggressive policy response," said Paul Ferley, assistant chief economist at the Royal Bank.

"And certainly the infrastructure program, as well as various tax cuts in hindsight, look like they have been very successful in terms of helping to sustain the recovery."

But despite his success in helping keep the Canadian economy on track, the coming year brings even more challenges for the finance minister as the vast majority of the stimulus spending comes to an end and he faces the task of balancing the budget to meet his target of 2015-16.

"I think the government did well in terms of identifying just how deep the economic hit was and opted to respond in kind," Ferley said.

"Now the fallout from that are a fairly large debt and deficit, numbers not as bad as what we are looking at south of the border or in Europe, but still, imbalances that at some point will need to be addressed."

Flaherty has said there will be no major new spending in his 2011 plan, but also there will be no major new cuts either.

"In 2010, it became clear that Canada had emerged from the deepest worldwide economic crisis since the 1930s in relatively good shape," Flaherty said.

"But we are mindful that the recovery is fragile and there are still too many people out of work. So we are sticking to our plan. "

Flaherty, having forgotten his glasses, proudly holds up
what he thinks is Harper's personal copy of  900 page Omnibus Budget Bill!
Tale Two:  There were 108 votes by (  ? ? ? ? ). Flaherty got 21 of them and the runner up, Brad Wall who stood up to The Harper Government and in particular Flaherty himself on the Hostile take-over of Saskatchewan Potash, came in a very close second with 19 votes. So, it was not a runaway landslide decision, based on Flaherty's legendary record on the economy after-all? No it was a tight vote and there was obviously no clear winner as Flaherty only got only 19.4% of the vote. I am still looking for a good explanation of who exactly voted, and what the criteria were.

OK, it was 108 print and online business news editors and broadcast news directors. Gee that seems like an impartial group eh? Of course I am still looking for details on who actually voted.

In even later versions some reservations to the choice are starting to be expressed. The huge deficit that was such a surprise to our boy Jim, the discrepancies between all of his predictions and the actual numbers, and his persistence in taking of all the credit for the work of Paul Martin. The constant criticism of the Office of Kevin page who has always seemed to doubt Flaherty's skills as a Finance Minister. The rampant spending on vote buying projects and the outright lies that they are telling as to the real impact on Canada. No mention of any of this in the early versions however.

Not that I am suggesting that any of us stop to think about any of this, and certainly not that the MSM will care if you simply put your head in neutral and play along with this silly little sham that they would like us to call real Journalism.

I am hoping that some real criticism will emerge in the Main Stream Media, before the 48 hour news cycle ends tomorrow. It is unlikely, but at least the real media, the people's media (the social media) is already all over this story asking real questions and secretly laughing at the lack of vision, the lack of long term memory and the lack of testicularity displayed by the Finance Minister and by the Canadian Press.

Bill S-10 Creates Main Stream Media Silence

<><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><>

M.S.M. ~ " Media Sans Mot "

Even as the so-called pundits of the Main Stream Media (MSM), you know, "the big guys", remind us Social Media types that we are not "real journalists", that we are not "being heard", that we are "inconsequential", that we are "always behind the curve", that we are merely "bit players", they themselves have gone AWOL on perhaps the most important event in the recent history of the Harper Government's war on Reason.

Oddly the Social Media is all over it. What exactly is it that the 'Media Sans Mot' is afraid of? Their Bosses? Possibly. Their Editors? Maybe. Their Shareholders? Probably. Being seen as sympathetic to this "Reefer Madness?" God I hope not or this country is beyond saving!
The black block is metaphoric, but only symbolic ~ the MSM have not spoken.
Four days after Bill S-10 was pushed through the Senate and on it's way back to the House of Commons for it's final leg of the journey from a very bad and ideologically driven idea to becoming 'The Law of the Land", the Main stream Media, including Television (CBC, CTV, Global, CBCNN, CTVNC etc. etc.) and all the Country's Newspapers, (SUN, National Post, Toronto Star, Calgary Herald, The Globe and Mail, Chronicle Herald, etc.etc.etc.) have gone Stoned Cold Dead on the subject.

Since the MSM has gone Mime, what are the social media players saying? Luckily they are saying plenty!

"Cannabis Culture" is saying: " If passed, S-10 will bring mandatory minimum jail sentences for marijuana offences to Canada for the first time - including six months for growing as few as five marijuana plants and 18 months for extracting hash or making pot edibles and sharing them. This means medical marijuana users who make pot cookies would be at risk of arrest, as there is no protection of this activity by current medical marijuana laws.

Some of the mandatory sentences increase to two years for growing or dealing near a school or park, and even more time with other 'aggravating factors' ".

"The bill even includes life sentences for some non-violent marijuana Crimes."

Neither the Opposition Parties nor the Government have yet responded, although it is fair to say that at this point only we social media types have asked any questions whatsoever and we are being ignored because, as they are so fond of saying in the MSM, we are "not really journalists".

Jan 04, 2010: I did just find this news of Michael Ignatieff's reaffermation of intent to decriminalize though. But once again, it comes not from the MSM, but from "Cannibus Culture".

The oddest part is that although you hear hints of this sentiment on "Power and Politics", on "At Issue", and "Power Play" and other casual comments here and there throughout the MSM, no one from the MSM seems to be saying it on line.

Maybe they are just worried that if they do actually say it on Social Media, someone might actually be able to find it and quote it!

*******************************************
This story is not over! I am hoping that the silence is not permanent and I will be attempting to get at least a few comments from the Opposition Parties, not that I do not see their reluctance to tip their hands. They let it slip two years ago that they were about to vote non-confidence and form a loose coalition. I'll bet that they now wish they had kept that under their hats until after the vote. I know I wish that they had.

Dear Sir:
On behalf of Michael Ignatieff, I would like to acknowledge receipt of your recent email regarding Bill S-10, the Penalties for Organized Drug Crime Act.

Significant evidence relating to this legislation has emerged since this bill was introduced, as a result, members of the Liberal Caucus intend to conduct extensive study in the House of Commons. We believe that strong drug laws are part of what is needed to fight gang violence, but equally important are crime prevention initiatives and the proper funding of law enforcement agencies which is where the Harper Conservatives are failing Canadians.

As with his entire agenda, Stephen Harper’s focus is only on sentencing – he does nothing to promote community safety, to address drug addiction in a meaningful way, or to actually reduce crime. While we support taking measures to reduce gang-related violence, we worry that this is an example of the Conservatives emulating the failed drug policies that were unsuccessful in the United States.

Thank you for taking the time to write to the Leader of the Opposition.

Sincerely,
The Office of Michael Ignatieff
Leader of the Opposition

This just in: An email I got a while back from Marlene Jennings setting out the Liberal intentions about this Bill.

JenniM8@parl.gc.ca to me

Mar 11 (5 days ago)

Dear Kim Leaman:

Thank you for your recent letter regarding your concerns of Bill S-10 An Act to amend the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act. Please excuse my delay in responding.

While the Liberal Party believes that strong drug laws are necessary to fight crime, we agree with you that minimum sentencing for drug offences are not the best way to solve violence. Instead, more effort needs to be directed towards sufficient funding to deal with many types of crimes that affect Canadian families; this is where the current government is failing Canadians. The root cause of many drug-related crimes is addiction, and instead of providing a band-aid solution for drug offences, like locking more people in jail, we need to focus more on crime prevention programs that break the cycle of drug dependence. In the last full year of a Liberal Government, the National Crime Prevention Centre supported 509 projects in 261 communities for a total of $56.9 million, however, the conservatives have slashed funding and programs by more than half.

Bill S-10 is worrisome due to the fact that it emulates the sentencing policies in the United States, which as you know have clearly been a failure. This is why we do not support the idea of mega prisons and instead, focus more on effective prevention and rehabilitation measures. While locking people up with minimum sentences is a quick fix and an attempt to look tough on crime, as many as 70% of current prison inmates are identified as having substance abuse problems and will return to their old ways after they have served their prison sentences. Frankly, minimum sentences do not offer a long-term solution to drug related problems without rehabilitation.

The provisions contained within Bill S-10 are ineffective. The bill targets minor offenders instead of dealing with larger criminal organizations, which are the real problem. In addition, the costs of the implementation of this bill are exorbitant. Liberals are concerned that the that the government has refused to provide accurate information on the costs of this bill’s implementation, the burden of which will fall on the provinces, which has been estimated cost is over $200 million for British Columbia alone!

Moreover, this bill does not only remove judicial discretion, but it has the potential of unevenly criminalizing young and low-income Canadians. For instance, a student who produced six plants would be awarded the same penalty as someone in an organized crime ring who produced 201 plants! An 18 year-old who offers a single Tylenol 3 pill to his 17 year-old cousin would be awarded a two year sentence! Liberal Senators had proposed substantial amendments to this bill to correct such deficiencies, however, these amendments were twice rejected by the Conservative government. It is clear that the government is unwilling to cooperate on the issue, which is why we have decided not to support this legislation.

Many stakeholders have also expressed their dissent to this bill. Their concerns are very similar to yours and they project our opinion of this bill very accurately. Stakeholders have told us that there is no evidence to support the benefits of minimum sentencing and that this bill is taking its focus off criminal organizations and putting it on minor offenders. I wholeheartedly agree with these positions.

As long as the current government fails to cooperate with us we will certainly not support this bill. This bill does nothing to address crime prevention and puts Canada on a path similar to the system in place in the United States, which has clearly failed.

Thank you again for bringing your views to my attention.

Sincerely,

The Honourable Marlene Jennings, P.C., M.P.

Liberal Critic for Justice and the Attorney General of Canada

Yet More Feedback!

Fry.H@parl.gc.ca to me

March, 16th, 2011 ~ 9:41 PM

Dear Kim,

Thank you for your email on Bill S-10, An Act to amend the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act and to make related and consequential amendments to other Acts, which introduces Penalties for Organized Drug Crime Act.

As a physician, and a former member of the House of Commons Special Committee on Non-Medical Use of Drugs (SNUD), I see drug use and addiction as a medical problem that requires medical solutions. It concerns me that Bill S-10 treats addiction as a criminal issue. However, those who exploit addicts, such as pushers and organized crime who sell drugs, must be dealt with harshly under the Criminal Code.

Under this Conservative government, the International Transfer of Offenders Act has been made irrelevant. The Act, which Canada was instrumental in organizing in 1978 under Liberal Prime Minister Pierre Elliott Trudeau, allows for the repatriation of Canadian prisoners to the Canadian penal system where they can serve a sentence and be effectively re-integrated into Canadian society.

I am very concerned about the recent escalation of drug-related gang violence in Vancouver, and other major Canadian cities. For this reason I voted in favour of Bill C-14, which made murders connected with organized crime activity automatically first-degree offences. However, I do not believe that Bill S-10 is an appropriate tool to address organized crime; instead, I believe it is likely to lead to the incarceration of low-level producers and dealers. Given the failure of mandatory minimum sentences to reduce drug use in the United States, I fail to see why a punitive approach to drugs would produce more positive results in Canada.Thank you again for your correspondence. Please feel free to contact my office at any time if I can be of further assistance on this issue or any other.Sincerely,

Hon. Hedy Fry, P.C., M.P.
