As I was perusing Peter Penashue's Facebook Page,I noticed something that fits right in with the Opposition's narrative on the now disgraced (former) MP and (former) Minister of Intergovernmental Affairs history of service. The Page contains hundreds of photographs  posted in 2011, hundreds. The odd part is that he stopped posting them on April, 30th, 2011 just two days short of the last federal election. What's so odd about that, you ask?

Well! Take a Closer Look

at Peter's Photo Stream and on that very page you will see that there were only two photographs posted in 2012, and both of them were PMO approved photo-ops of spending announcements with plenty of human props. And that is not hundreds is it now. And moving on to 2013, the first photo graphs were , not posted till January 28th, 2013. And this my friends, was that he was informed that he was under investigation by election Canada, and that the investigative had concluded that he grossly exceeded the spending limits for the 2011 campaign.  Election Canada gave him a deadline to explain the roughly $48,000.oo that he had no right to spend. This was several weeks before he resigned as a Minister and MP and left the  caucus of the Conservative Party of Canada.

And this is Quite Amusing ~ Don't you think!

The Ex-Minister of Inter Governmental Affairs has a hard time to keep his story straight these days. No wonder he is reluctant   to speak truthfully about it. He actually over spent by a huge amount during the 2011 general election and thereby had to resign in disgrace. And Not only is he no longer a Minister in Stephen Harper's Conservative Government, Peter Penashue (pronounced "Panache away", is no longer a member of parliament. 

Althought he didn't say at the time, he had resigned just ahead of a deadline set by Elections Canada to come clean or resign. Did he come clean? No, blamed it all on a what he called an an oversight by an"inexperienced volunteer". The volunteer turned out not be volunteering at all and was in fact well paid as Penashue's Campaign Manager, and it turns out much more experienced than Peter Penashue. see

In an interview with a Labrador radio station, Penashue said he was waiting for Elections Canada to finish its report into the campaign spending, which he said he expects soon."What I saw, I wasn't pleased. So I thought that the best and appropriate thing to do was to resign," he said."I'm not comfortable with those illegitimate contributions and ... I don't think Labradorians feel comfortable with it either so I think it's proper that I resign and have the people of Labrador decide as to who they would like to have them represented in Ottawa."I haven't done anything wrong because I didn't have any knowledge to it," he added. "

The Odd Part or rather some the odd parts are that he announced that he was going to run in a By-election even as he resigned? And he starting campaigning before he ever resigned. He announced the by-election before the prime minister said the would need one. And the Scape Goat was attacked by the party thugs in out out of the House of commons and it they insisted that he was indeed a volunteer and inexperienced and had made a honest mistake. He was very incompetent they said. 

Turns out the intended scape-goat had already been rewarded by the Conservative Party with a plum job. In spite of his perceived incompetence he was appointed as, well, you better read it. 

The federal government has filled a vacant seat on the Canada-Newfoundland and Labrador Offshore Petroleum Board (CNLOPB), offering the spot to the campaign manager for Peter Penashue, the province’s sole Conservative MP.
Reginald Bowers of Happy Valley-Goose Bay helped lead the Penashue camp to a 231-vote victory in the 2011 election, preventing a complete Conservative shutout of Newfoundland and Labrador. Bowers has now been named to the body responsible for regulating the province’s offshore oil and gas industry.
(ttSm adds: That the vote was actually a 76 vote "victory". And that '231' is just the PMO's numbers at the time, just spin) The CNLOPB appointment was made by federal Minister of Natural Resources, Joe Oliver.
“Mr. Bowers brings decades of experience in business and economic development,” Oliver stated in a federal government news release Friday. “He will be an asset to the board as it continues to fulfill its mandate.”
Its mandate includes: safety, environmental protection, resource management and industrial benefits. It is responsible or licensing oil and gas developments.
The federal Department of Natural Resources provided no further information on Bowers’ background within its announcement on his appointment. The Telegram requested further information. We have since received the following:

“(Bowers) is an economic development officer with extensive experience in regional economic development. His business experience and educational background have allowed him the opportunity to be heavily involved in consultation processes and gain in-depth knowledge of many government programs and policies. He is active in the community, having participated in numerous local groups and serving on local boards. He holds a Bachelor of Commerce from the Memorial University of Newfoundland.”

Bowers saw fit to resign shortly after this story broke, But I think you get the picture!

Many of us have waited a long time for such evidence, and as accusations that the Harper Government  systematically bent or broke many of the rules during the May 2011 election swirl around the country, the Conservatives are crying foul. They say that "There is nothing to see here" or that they are the victims of a smear campaign. Well, one thing that happened today was a Huge Substantiation of the main thrust of the oppositions claims that Harper Broke the law in a Criminal way. They've been calling them Unsubstantiated smears for a while now. Day after day! But it turns out that we now have all the ammo we need to Finally wake Canadians.

What Does That Mean?  

How could they "try" to smear the Harper Government and fail to do so? The evidence that these no-longer Progressive Conservatives are all too willing to do anything to gain and keep power is everywhere. The evidence that they are incompetent on all files in all Departments is everywhere. The evidence that these ReformaCons are absolutely in lock-step with the Grand Old Party of America is everywhere. The evidence is all there for honest and intelligent Canadians to see.

But it has not been. And the reason is simple: Canadians simply do not believe that anyone could be so dishonest, so deceitful, and so very guilty of such things as election fraud and still be the Government. 

Canadians, or so the story goes, would never be 'fooled by criminals into electing them'. Canadians are in fact quite mistaken in this assumption and it is all due to the fact that dishonesty, deceit, denial and obfuscation are so foreign to us and the very cornerstones of the Conservative Party of Canada. And those are not the ways of most of us, so we are reluctant to believe that they are really cheating us.

But, if the evidence that CBC's Terry Milewski released Thursday night, is what it appears to be, then that cheating and that election fraud is systemic and systematic and apparently they are very good at it!

Seriously, is this just a smear campaign?

Personally, I have been Smearing the Conservatives Ever Since I First Noticed Stephen Harper.
But None of it went Unsubstantiated.

I first started to spread this information just before Harper broke his own Fixed date Election law back in late August of 2008. I wrote this list right off the top of my head ~ it contains over 60 issues that pointed to their regressive ideology, and their dismal incompetence. That was almost four years ago. I had not, at the time come to realise the extent to which they were linked to American Right Wing 'Think' Tanks. But that is all public knowledge now. See next blog post.

The very first issue on that long but incomplete list is "In and Out" and it refers to their having cheated democracy during the 2006 federal Election by diverting Money from local campaigns to the Federal one. That was completely outside of the Elections Act and after over five years of saying over and over and over again that it was "an administrative dispute." The Conservatives paid a $52,000.oo fine and just last week dropped their appeal and are paying back $230,000.oo to Elections Canada.

Hell, they even scream "Smear" 
when anyone suggests 
that they are not above racial slurs.

In the Current round of the Harper Government's claims that they are being victimised and are the object of unsubstantiated smears, most Canadians now seem to understand that that is not the case. Does that mean that Canadians are actually getting to know Mr. Harper and his dysfunctional caucus? How I wish it did.

Not until there is a full Public Inquiry into the RoboCon Affair that gets to the bottom of the tactics used and sheds much needed light on  the elements of the Conservative Party that owe their campaign tactics to one of Americas leading right wing hacks, Karl Rove, and leave them and those tactics naked and known to be what they really are,  will we have satisfied our curiosity. At that point I believe all those "smears" will have been substantiated. Most previous smears of this Government's name have been.

Why is Noone talking about the Conservative's Relationship with Front Porch Strategies? 

To me, their tell-tale shared backward looking Ideology and all that they both promote sheds light on the very heart of the Robocon Scandals that include not only Tele Town Halls as well as  Robocalls, but a whole litany of other unreported activities. 

Front Porch Who? ~ Who Are They? 

There is lots of evidence to be gleaned from some of Front Porch Strategies own gloating rhetoric and many incidences of both unilateral and mutual congratulation and mindless glad-handing. These are obviously not just business relationships and just as obviously are rooted in the same dark Right wing Ideology that Most Canadians would not tolerate if it was revealed to them.

There is much more than an exchange of services happening here. There is much in this relationship that speaks of  a growing connection between the Harper Conservatives and the  Right, American Conservative Movement. A look at some of the Issues that Front Porch Strategies promotes shows a very close relationship to the American Religious Right and the big money of the Republicans and shows their passionate interest in dredging up a lot of issues that Canadians have long since felt were already settled. Many of them are issues that even Harper claims are already settled. According to Harper for instance there is no reason or plans to resurect the abortion debate.

So what other issues do they promote? Well they are seemingly in lock-step with the Harper government's views on Israel vs. Palestine and openly lobby on Facebook for more support for Israel, and less consideration for Palestinians and are clearly promoting a very unbalanced approach. 

So? Who Do They Do Work For?

I am having a hard time to decide which clip of Newt Gingrich best typifies his incredibly dangerous and dismal Ideology. Should I raise his racist rants? Should I talk about his stupid take on taxes, his attacks on Muslims, or his outrageous treatment of both of his ex-wives? There are just so many clips, and so little time. Of course all of those topics are open game in america.  And again I want to ask you to ask yourself if you think that any company that so actively and passionately promotes nothing but Right wing Ideologues is not very likely to have more than just a business relationship with those who share that Right Wing Ideology?

At any rate I picked this clip because it shows how very practical he can be. This was just moments after his having lost the Republican Primary on Jan. 31st, 2012 in Florida: (Unofficial 100 percent) Mitt Romney 46.42 percent (775,014), Newt Gingrich 31.9 percent (533,117), Rick Santorum 13.3 percent (222,799), Ron Paul 7 percent (117,104), other 1.3 percent (21,613). ).

On the outside, RockPointe Church looks like a bunker. On the inside, it's a cavernous auditorium with no crosses, altar or pulpit. Instead it has a "stage" on which its many pastors champion conservative moral values while strolling like casual talk-show hosts, remarking on how "cool" things are, exclaiming "Right on!" and referring to adherents as "You guys."

Trask believes the more than 2,000 evangelical Protestants in his thriving church, as well as most of the 2.5 million evangelicals across the country, are enthusiastic supporters of his old friend, the prime minister. "Read more:

    What Could Be Less Canadian Than That? 

I just wanted to add one final worry about this American Right wing spin machine. They have been saying for a week that they do NOT do Robocalls and only did Tele-Town-Halls on behalf of the Conservatives. As you have just seen that clearly is the case. Oddly they still deny having such capabilities, but they need to be careful what they say on publicly on Facebook.

Harper PERSONALLY Cheated in May 2011 Election! ~ We Knew It Then!

I have no idea why there is any doubt that the man at the Top of the "In and Out" and the obvious architect of the on going deconstruction and de-funding of Canadian democratic principles is getting even the shadow of doubt here. Are we that forgetful? Do we reset our minds every news cycle? Are we really as stupid as Harper thinks we are? 

Stick around and we'll jog yer memory! He even personally broke the Election Law on May 2, 2011at 1136 PM ET.
Have another look at evidence clearly showing Harper campaigning illegally on Election day 2011!

And he was talking about the fresh news that Osama was dead. If there is anything that reaches out to his kind of crowd, it is news that opponent has been slain. Revenge is a powerful Right Wing aphrodisiac. Note at the end that he gets schooled by a citizen after putting in a shameless plug at the end of the interview.

To me it is hard evidence. There is also much evidence that to the Cons, the concept of evidence is a hard one to get! We can't change them, but we do out-number them. We must concert ourselves to that end.

Seriously, Election Fraud is no harder to prove than all of the other fraud that they have so openly committed! Their entire tenure as the government has been fraught with dismal lapses of reason, ethics or direction. This blog is full of such information.

In an interview this morning with Bill Good on CKNW in Vancouver, Stephen Harper openly campaigned for the Conservative Party of Canada, asking listeners to "vote Conservative" in defiance of Elections Canada rules and regulations that state no campaigning may be done during the media blackout on election day.

During the interview Stephen Harper contravined the Elections Canada Act by stating that "It is certain that I will vote, and I encourage all other people to vote, and I encourage people to do the same as me and vote Conservative."

The host of the CKNW call in radio show, Bill Good, was quick to reply to listeners that "We encourage you to vote too, but we encourage you to vote whichever way you feel is appropriate."

Sections 480 to 499 of the Elections Canada Act detail prohibited activites by candidates during the imposed media blackout on election day in Canada.

Will we finally take Harper by the short and curlies and throw him to the curb? God knows we have had our opportunities. Some of us thought his infamous speech in 1997 would have made him Disappear. Some thought that the fact that he wanted to take us headlong into the quagmire of Iraq to find those Weapons of mass destruction, might have done it. He even plagiarized a Speech made by John Howard, then the Australian Prime Minister which many say was actually written in Washington.

Failing to wake up then, we have continued to ignore countless instances of abuse of privilege, power, bad legislation, constant campaigning and incompetent and backward governance by this so-called leader and his so-called "Harper Government." Here are a few more of those instances, none of which have sufficiently aroused a sense of obligation on the part of Canadians to protect themselves from abuse. 

This is a copy of a comment that I made way back in 2004, it was reposted then by a stranger on another site,  and which still floats around the web these years later. I searched and found it quite easily again today.  

I will put it up here as an example of the current length of that list. Keep in mind that this one is over three years old and that at the time I wrote it right off the Top of My Head. One can only imagine how long such a list must necessarily be today. This is Pre-Colvin, Pre-Toews, Pre-gazebo, ....... And three and  half  years before RackNine, Robocalls, and yet another incidence of Election rigging.

Three and a half years ago this was ONLY a partial list!

And Today, we are really no closer to getting rid of the beast, although some are starting to stir. We must remain vigilant, we must continue to apply pressure to the Harper Government.

OTTAWA  Citizen ~ An Elections Canada investigation into black ops "robocalls" was focused on a Conservative party campaign in Guelph, Ont., documents obtained by Postmedia News and the Ottawa Citizen show.
A court order executed on an Edmonton call centre in November specifically refers to records related to the campaign of Conservative candidate Marty Burke in Guelph, where many voters reported receiving pre-recorded messages that falsely claimed their polling stations had moved.

 Opposition leaders vow to maintain pressure on Tories over alleged dirty tricks

TORONTO - "The opposition politicians were out in force Saturday fanning the flames created by the election robocall scandal, while the Conservatives offered up their own victim of dirty tricks, an MP who won his seat in a landslide.

Peterborough MP Dean Del Mastro, who is Prime Minister Stephen Harper's parliamentary secretary, issued a statement Saturday saying his supporters were targeted by deceitful callers in the lead-up to the May election." Read more

Rae claims 'robocalls' contributed to Liberal candidates' defeat

Interim Liberal Leader Bob Rae claims reports of "robocalls" and voter suppression tactics contributed to the defeat of Liberal candidates in at least 27 ridings during the last federal election.

These tactics were the equivalent of "stuffing a ballot box," Rae said at a news conference in the riding of Toronto-Danforth on Saturday.

Rae called on "the prime minister, any Conservative MP, candidate or party official" who has any knowledge of these reports to come forward and turn the information over to the RCMP or Elections Canada for investigation.

According to Rae, these reports are part of a wider misinformation campaign by the Conservatives and he is calling on Parliament to hold an emergency debate on Monday.        Read more

MY TAKE:
Listen to Pierre Poilievre especially closely here. They always dig him up when this sort of Robo- Con message is needed. There is no one in Canada better able to lie stone faced to the camera.  During the Contempt hearings and all through the In and out scheme, Poilievre repeated some hundreds of times that it was an "Administrative dispute" and we all know that it was much much more than that.

So listen here carefully and remember this statement by Pierre Poilievre, it will not be the last time that you hear it.
